How does this change existing rebate programs with trades and vendors?
Compendia Exchange does not influence pricing negotiations between builders and their installers or distributors. Participating Builder Members make their specifications decisions understanding the values available to them through Compendia Exchange. Builder Members will make their buying and specification decisions based upon what is in the best interest of the Builder (value), the customer (quality), and product availability within the local trade or installer base.

What about rebates I already have negotiated with builders?
Builder Members can trade-up to a higher value within the exchange or change their specifications to take advantage of a higher value program. Builder Members with existing higher value programs can continue to collect that rebate on their own or choose to have Compendia Exchange administer it for them for a nominal fee.

Why can’t a builder do as effective a job with an in-house program?
Compendia Exchange can deliver greater value because of economies of scale, long term relationships with Builders and their back-office, and size; with over 17,000 forecast closings in 2009 and 44,000 homes under contract for future delivery. Compendia’s core competency revolves around its ability to efficiently collect data on the products and services that are incorporated into our Builder Client’s homes. That’s why so many Builders have already chosen to outsource many of their administrative duties to Compendia, and why they join Compendia Exchange.

Why do Manufacturers do this?
The Exchange provides an efficient platform for manufacturers to offer builder members incentives to buy their products. It also enables them to reach smaller builders that may not be cost effective to send an account rep thereby lowering client acquisition costs. Finally, we are able to standardize reporting reducing administrative costs as well as provide the information manufacturers need to run their businesses effectively

How does Compendia make money?
Compendia is paid an administrative commission from the rebates that it collects and distributes to its Builder Members
